Funny Farm

Well I think it is about time for a Stella update. She went home to the farm for Memorial Day weekend and has not been back to my house since (well she visited twice). She loves spending time with Tracy and Lucas since they are now out of school. Mindy and Jessie are taking turns out at the farm now and Tracy and Lucas are even helping with mom’s bag changes and such. That is a bitter sweet thing for me. I loved having mom her under my watchful eye. And I knew she was being fed and all of that stuff. I mean I know that she is getting fed at the farm but…well I guess it is the oldest child syndrome, where I feel I need to control the situation and now I am not in control. But I will get over that...I hope. Anyway, the Wiechman’s are getting back to a normal routine and my house has been cleaned like it needed so desperately. I am ashamed to say that it has been neglected since March when our lives got flipped upside down. But my yard is coming together as well as the inside.

I know that I have said it before, but I am so grateful for everything that I have in my life. I am thankful that I have had these last few months with mom and that god didn’t take her when they thought or that she was never taken by something more abrupt. I am so thankful for the wonderful man that I married, not many men would have let their mother-in-law move in and take over the house. I am thankful that mom was around for those precious moments with Gavin that I will never forget. I am thankful that I have a wonderful stepdaughter that gave up her room for her grandma to have. Hospice people are wonderful! I don’t regret ever picking Asera Care they have been absolutely amazing, even now that she has switched to the farm, they never complained about running out to Milford. I am grateful for the friends that I have, new and old. I will never forget the quick words of wisdom, comfort, and advice. I appreciate all of the meals that have been sent. The prayers: keep them coming. This time is so precious and this is what Tracy and Lucas will remember. And Gavin will always hear “Stella Stories”; I have shared them with half of Platte, Lancaster and Cumming counties, so I am sure they will continue to spread.

I must be feeling all girlie cause this is a very girlie emotional update. Sorry, but that’s the way I blog.

New Job

Wow! I have survived my first 1/2 week at the new job and I love it! I don't have much else to say but I know many of you have been checking in on me and sending thoughts our way. Kidwell is wonderful so far and my brother-in-laws have been great too.(they both are in management there)

Stella is doing well and keeping busy with her trips to the dollar stores :) I believe that she has visited all the ones in town by now.

Gavin is almost walking! He is so close...it looks as if when he is standing up he might forget that he doesn't quite have the balance yet.

Keep checking back!

Looking back and then forward again

Well, today is my last day at Seward Motor Freight. While I am excited to be leaving, part of me is sad to leave all the wonderful people that I work with. I got engaged, married and had my first baby here. These people have really watched me grow and grown with me. I would like to think that I taught them a thing or two, being the young chick around here, but I will never know.

Tomorrow we will be taking Mom out to her farm. She hasn't been there since March 3rd. And who knows what has happened to it in the 26 days of her absence. The kids and Dan have been staying there but they have been in Lincoln quite a bit too...We are also getting some things set up for mom and the kids. Signing her up for disability and things like that. It takes time and I hope that time is something that we have.

Stella is having good days and if you didn't know her diagnosis, by looking at her you wouldn't know that she has terminal cancer. But she has always been graceful about these things. We are thankful for your continued prayers and amazing support. We have wonderful friends and incredible family. I guess all of those people who gave me a hard time about being from a big family didn't know that God had a plan for that big family to come together like they have and continue to do.

Thank you and blessing sent to all of your families from ours.

An Amazing Easter

We had Tracy and Lucas this weekend at our house. 1: to give their dad a break and 2: to have a weekend with mom feeling good.

Stella is having good days. Thank the lord. The anxiety of bad days are starting to cloud her mind though, we are trying to focus on the positive as much as we can. But good days are happening for her and we are so thankful!

Gavin had a wonderful first Easter. I swear that kid is more fun to watch now than ever before. The Easter Bunny did visit and he remember that Aunt Tracy and Uncle Lucas were at our house too! I have some good pictures but they are not loaded on the computer yet...I will do that later.

Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. You all are true friends!
